Private advisory · Acquisition strategy

Clear direction for complex art decisions.

House of Eight works with private clients, estates, institutions, and foundations across acquisitions, private sales, and collection strategy. Every mandate is shaped around the client, the work, and the reality of the market.

01 · Acquisitions

The right work, for the right reason.

We help clients define what belongs in a collection before entering the market. That begins with taste, context, quality, and the role a work will play over time.

Once a direction is clear, we source through public and private channels, review available material, assess market position, coordinate diligence, and manage negotiation and execution.

02 · Private sales

A sale should begin with the right route.

Not every work belongs at auction, and not every private approach serves the seller. We assess the work, timing, audience, and level of discretion before recommending how to proceed.

House of Eight can position a work privately, evaluate third-party proposals, coordinate supporting material, and manage a focused process without unnecessary exposure.

03 · Collection strategy

A collection should keep making sense.

Collections change as people, families, and institutions change. We help identify what remains central, where quality can be strengthened, and where a collection may need to evolve.

Our work may include collection audits, gap analysis, acquisition planning, selective deaccession strategy, documentation review, and long-term stewardship planning.
